Do you wish to support the work, we are doing at The Testimony Project, Washington D.C., want more information about our initiative and/or want to work with us? Well, we have good news for you, we welcome any support you can provide, and are currently seeking volunteers and interns to help support our work. We are also looking to collaborate and partner with other advocates, activists, artists, leaders, and organizations who support victim-survivors of gender-based and sexual violence, and/or are working to end gender-based and sexual violence. Current Opportunities

Social Media/Communications Intern: We are currently looking for a student to be our second Social Media/Communications intern.

The Testimony Project Washington D.C. seeks a Social Media/Communications Intern, to support the work of the co-founders, as the project grows, to recruit participants, build relationships with other advocates and organizations and expand the reach of the project outside Washington D.C. The social media/communications intern would primarily work with our co-founder and executive director, Amanda Draper, to help develop our social media, marketing, and community outreach strategies. The intern would also work with Amanda and the producer for our documentary film, "The Testimony Project", to help recruit participants for our film, coordinate logistics for filming and other components of the project. The intern would be expected to work part-time somewhere between 10-15 hours a week remotely, meeting regularly with Amanda on the phone, via video conference and/or in person. Please note that this will be an unpaid internship.

Responsibilities: The social media/communications intern’s primary responsibilities will include:

  • Updating The Testimony Project DC’s social media accounts, posting and tweeting regularly

  • Reaching out to other advocates and other community organizations re: about the possibility of working together or community partnerships

  • Help coordinate scheduling for filming with our participants

  • Work with Tanya and Amanda to devise a successful strategy for recruiting participants

  • Helping Amanda and Tanya work on developing a fundraising strategy

  • Serving as a campus ambassador for the project

  • Helping develop and implement a community outreach strategy with Amanda and Tanya

  • Helping Amanda and Tanya grow the project


  • Motivated high school student, or a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited educational institution in the United States or overseas

  • Interest in anti-sexual and gender-based violence advocacy and prevention efforts

  • Interest in and/or experience doing human rights advocacy and/or justice work

  • Interest in entrepreneurship, non-profits, advocacy and/or start-ups

  • Belief in and a strong commitment to The Testimony Project’s mission and vision

  • Experience using social media for marketing and promotional purposes as well as activism

  • Working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, and Instagram

  • Experience using Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Microsoft Office, Dropbox and Box

  • Strong writing, research, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Intercultural competency

  • Good sense of humor

  • Creativity

  • Persistence

  • Fluency in Spanish-highly desired but not required

  • Fluency in a non-English language highly desired but not required

  • Proficiency in graphic design highly desired but not required

  • Ability to commit to working at least 10 hours/week is a must
